THE NEW PORTISHEAD ALBUM

In the beginning of 2001 Rolling Stone reported that
the band were heading off to Australia to record the
album and were hoping to release it later that year.
However, the band suffered from severe writer's block
and put the project on hiatus after 8 weeks. In 2002
Beth confirmed that her solo project "Out of Season"
wouldn't mean the end of Portishead and that she'd
been working on vocals and melodies on tracks that
Geoff had sent her - their record label Go! Beat even
hinted of a 2003 release date. Latest reports say that
the band are still working on the album in the studio
and intend to finish recording by the end of this year.
Rumour has it that the delay has got something to
do with label issues (Go! Beat merged with Island
recently). There was some confusion in 2002 when
false rumours of a new Portishead album entitled
"Alien" circulated around the web and press.
